A record of the renovation of a
Wooden Drascombe Longboat 'Otter'

12th February 2007. Started fitting the second strakes.

Bonded the the edges of the rear deck hatches.

The idea is that I will saw along the gap (where the softwood spacers are) and I will have hatches that will fit the curve of the deck.

Started to fit the second strakes. To get the correct bevel I first measured the required bevel at various points and recorded them on the ply. After removing the strake I then planed the bevel.

The glue in the ply soon dulls my plane blade. I had to resharpen about six times.

This feels like real boat building.

On the starboard side one length of ply sufficed.

On the starboard side two pieces were required as it was over 8'.
