A record of the renovation of a
Wooden Drascombe Longboat 'Otter'

17th January 2008. More work on hatch and started spray hood.

Made hatch similar to Coaster GRP one,

It drops into channels that slope rearward for drainage.

I have kept the hatch as low as possibe to improve visibility when helming.

Here is a mock-up of the spray hood. Seems like the pivot points would be better aft a bit.

So I made some side deck extensions. The jib jambing cleats will also be mounted on them.

I then worked out where the front of the spray hood would meet the cabin roof and made wooden strips to take the track that holds the "luff rope".

The gap is for mounting pullies to guide the halliards.

The track was then screwed down.
